Llandysul

Liz had made an excellent choice in Llandysul for this walk.

It was just a stone throw away from our last walk at Cwmpengraig and yet another new area for us to explore as hardly anyone knew this place at all.In fact at one stage from high up, Neil H, pointed out where we had been on the last walk.

13 of us assembled in the car park, including new member Helen and her two doggy friends who were all welcomed to the group.Should I mention that of the 13, the men were outnumbered by the women 8 to 5--- perhaps not!!

Sandra had thought she was in the wrong car park, as she'd arrived for a 10 30am start instead of the allotted time of 11am.

Off we set on a country lane out of the town and towards  the Woodland Trust's Coed Y Foel woods. This was a very lovely woodland, predominately made up of sessile oak.

It was quite a humid day and we were glad to eventually emerge onto open farmland where we were greeted by a herd of horses canterig over the top of the hill towards us, and who then stood and stared down at us, watching our every move.

The views here were spectacular across to the high point at Pencoedfoel, an iron age hillfort, and and also down to Llandysul.

Because of the nosy horses our refreshment stop was put on hold, as we made for a gate into the next field, full of wildflowers and bright yellow buttercups.

We proceeded along the farm track into yet another field and shielded from the wind behind a hedge, we stopped for a lunch break.

After lunch we passed through another few fields coming to an information board about the area.Down through another colourful field we emerged onto a lane, walked downhill for a bit and then onto a path by the River Teifi.

This was really lovely meandering along by the river.Eventually we came to a lovely bridge--yes a photo opportunity of course!!--and then back along the lanes to the centre of Llandysul.

The Italian coffee shop beckoned and we all sat deep in conversation, eating our cakes and ice creams and drinking our teas and coffees agreeing it was a lovely way to end a walk.

Many thanks to Liz for introducing us to Llandysul and for everyone who supported this walk which was slightly off the beaten track for most.It was great to see Lisa who we hadn't seen since the womens weekend in April, and to meet Helen, who promised to return and join us again.
