King William at Hailey – Sunday 15th October 2023

"Didn't he do well!!!" Having started out on walks from "The King William at Hailey" for countless times, I though we had walked every alternative. Andrew had a new twist to the routes, having taken ten (including one new member from Reading, but missing a few who probably got delayed on route) we set off first down to the foot of the escarpment, before climbing to the top. Through unseen parkland gardens, reaching English Farm House a grand Georgian House with extensive tythe barns. Lunch was in bright, if not cold in the shade, light looking down on the farm. Onward we followed ancient tracks to Nuffield church before descending down through the beech woods along Grims Ditch. To complete the day Andrew had been busy baking a Dundee Cake and shortbread. Much enjoyed by everyone. Thanks to Andrew.
