I had company today as my friend Richard Davies got up at 5 am to drive up from South Wales to walk this section with me. It was an interesting day with a Roman Villa, lots of lovely beech woods, the Painswick Golf Club and an interesting church in St Mary's Church Painswick with allegedly 100 shaped yew trees in the churchyard and a model of Sir Francis Drake's flag ship the 'Bonaventure'.

The supplementary pictures are of a sunlight beech wood, Richard reinacting the scramble for the wheel of cheese at the annual Cheese Rolling at Cooper's Hill, some of 100 yews in St Mary's Church Painswick, the model of the 'Bonaventure', Sir Francis Drake's flagship and the 'Loovre'
