Annual Exploration of Oxford City

6 Jan 2019 | Oxford Group

Hi All,

Saturday 5th Januaries "Annual Ramble Around Oxford City Centre" turned into a more interesting walk than planned. Apart from our usual regular members (though some missed it due to other commitments, flu etc) we had five new visiting members from outside the district. New Forest Weekend away

10 Jul 2016 | Berkshire & Mid Thames, Devon, Hertfordshire, London, Milton Keynes & Buckinghamshire, Oxford, Solent, South Midlands, South Wales, Surrey, Sussex, Adventure Out Groups

The group was mixed with some wearing shorts and some less hardy wearing trousers. The first part of the walk had minor bits of mud and plenty of shade as we walked through Godshill woods towards Hale. Then once we got to open countryside we realised why the walk leader was wearing long trousers some of the paths were so overgrown it looked like we were P....

30 Apr 2016 | Berkshire & Mid Thames, Cambridge, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, East Kent, East Midlands, Essex, Hertfordshire, Home Counties Midweek, Lake District, Lincoln, London, Milton Keynes & Buckinghamshire, Norfolk, North East, North Wales, Oxford, Scotland, Solent, Somerset, South Midlands, South Wales, Suffolk, Surrey, Sussex, Transpennine, West Kent, West Wales, Western Midlands, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire & North Somerset Groups

This was a GOC first--a women only walking weekend.

Women are under represented in the Club so to try and encourage more women to get involved in their local groups, the trustees had approved a limited number of women only events, to try and address this issue.

The aim is to get a nucleus of women walking with all the groups, which can only benefit everyone involved with the Club.

I limited the number to 30 for the whole event. This was mainly because finding a venue that could cater for this amount of people for the planned Saturday evening meal, was difficult....
