Britains Most Southerly Point.

Cornwall walkers this month headed for Britains Most southerly point: The Lizard. Regular walkers Neville, Chris, Terry, Paul and Matthew welcomed newcomers Karen and John. The first stop was Kynance Cove before heading round to the Point itself. Here we had lunch and browsed the souvenir shops with one or two taking advantage of an ice cream. We then continued round past the Lizard Lighthouse, The old Marconi Wireless Station and the National Coastwatch Institute before heading back for a light refreshment in the Lizards well known Top House Hotel....

Truro Day and Idless Woods

Today was a great one here in Cornwall as the group managed to combine a walk with a look around a local event taking place in Truro. Truro meant altering our starting point for the walk but it was well worth it. Martin lead the group, consisting of Richard, Terry, Debbie, Adam, Matt, Steve, Neville and myself in and around Idless woods climbing up the famous locally known 'Forty' steps which actually consists of more than seventy. From here we entered Kenwyn Churchyard where Martin pointed out various different Commonwealth Graves from different eras....

Double Waters where the rivers Walkham and Tavy meet.

Meeting on the edge of western Dartmoor north of Plymouth, 13 intrepid walkers gathered for the walk co-ordinated by Roy and Ian. The weather was warm and sunshine strong as we headed off towards the two rivers of Tavy and Walkham. With views into Poldark country, thoughts turned to six packs and dark fur. Back to reality the walk followed a track to the junction of the two rivers in a wooded glen for a short break before heading upwards to moorland and another descent to our stop by the river for food and refreshments....

July's Rough Tor

Our Rough Tor walk (pronounced row as in an argument) made a fabulous day out for the group this July. Lead by Simon and Steve in a very scenic East Cornwall location the walk was attended by myself, Shaun, Martin (x2!) Neville and Chris.

We trecked through a Wartime Airfield Site spotting various interesting objects along the way. There was also a view of Brown Willy (the highest point of Bodmin Moor) only a very short distance away from us. We went through various other fields, together with areas of open ...
