Forde Abbey Visit & Walk – 19th August

A cheery group of people and lovely Scrabble the dog set off from Thorncombe on the five mile walk with a halfway point of a visit to Forde Abbey. The forecasted light rain was not in evidence and the weather was good for us all day.

A gentle walk through the fields and country lanes of the area got us to the Abbey where we spent some three hours taking in the House and Gardens...and the Tea Room of course.

All too soon it was time to head off for the second part of the walk through country fields and lanes back to Thorncombe. A good number of us took up the kind offer from Michael for rounding off the walk and day with tea and cakes at his place.

This was a second recent venture to the south part of the county and it was good to see both familiar faces and some new faces from the more local area.

Many thanks to all who came along to make it a good day and especially to Michael for hosting us at his place following the walk.
