This weekend saw the final camping trip of the year for the East Midlands group.
Despite the insistent rain on Friday, twenty of us pitched up. Saturday saw a 7-mile walk beneath the big skies of south Lincolnshire, led by Sue T. After the walk, a planning meeting was held to sort out next years events, accompanied by tea and cake.
On Saturday evening, thirty-four of us took over the barn on the campsite for a hog roast and disco, during which Fred reflected back over the last year in which the East Midlands Group has seen rather a few changes. Alan Chambers has gradually, throughout the year, passed his coordinator role across to a consortium of six members who will be joint coordinating going forward. We have continued to see a good turned out of both men and women. Also, we have kindled three new romances and a wedding this year. We send best wishes to Fred and Terry, Sam and Zoe, Helen and Debbie. And congratulations to Geoff and Allan on their recent wedding. Sunday saw a walk around the three churches of Fleet and Gedney, followed by tea and homemade cakes from the site owners, before we all went our separate ways. Helen Neal
