Despite a difficult weather forecast, 14 in all turned up for an enjoyable 10 mile hike from Broadmayne up over White Horse Hill for splendid views of Weymouth Bay and Portland, then along the south coast path to the tiny charming hamlet of Bincombe and eventually into Upwey for lunch at the Royal Standard Pub. The staff and food at the pub were excellent and provided light relief after a half hour walk through heavy rain! After lunch saw the group take the old Roman road part way towards Dorchester, then along the Jubilee trail back towards Broadmayne offering spectacular views inland and also of the formidable storms making their way eastwards!
Everyone then enjoyed a delicious cream tea at the leader, Andrew's house, also enjoying his splendid garden and art collection.
And all were safe inside the house when a tremendous downpour came crashing down! A great day despite the weather!'
