Dorset Group 28 Nov 19: Godlingston Heath and the Purbeck Forest

On a rare beautifully sunny November day our loyal band of 6 set off across the Purbeck Golf Club onto Godlingston Heath enjoying commanding views across Poole Harbour and along the coast to Hengistbury Head.

We soon reached the Agglestone - Purbeck's answer to Uluru before traversing a swamp and crossing the heath to reach the lush pastures of Greenland sandwiched between Studland Beach and the far fringes of Poole Harbour.

Here we entered the remote Purbeck Forest on the far edge of Poole Harbour to enjoy a stroll through the tranquil landscape devoid of man and beast. Emerging back onto the heath we returned to the Golf Club for a well deserved sandwich and pint at the nineteenth hole.
