An overcast but dry day greeted our happy band of 12 as we set off across Knighton Heath and the remains of its medieval village. Circumventing Dorset Police HQ we carefully crossed the live railway tracks to the Frome River floodplain with its many channels. A number of bridges led us safely across into Bovington Army Camp and its Tank Museum.
A stroll through the forest led us back to the river at the pretty village of Moreton. We spent our lunch break exploring the walled gardens, church and graveyard containing the grave of TE Laurence. Our return led us across remote Winfrith Heath to end with a refreshing pint at the Countryman Inn back in East Knighton
