Dorset Group 25 Apr 19 : Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove

On a bright blustery day our team of 6 boys, one girl and a dog headed off along the downland ridge with commanding views across to the Isle of Portland, descending Scratchy Bottom to reach the Jurassic Coast and the rollercoaster cliffs of Swyre Head and Bat Head.

We followed the coast path eastwards to come upon the coastal marvel of Durdle Door. Having explored the door and the neighbouring Man of War Cove we continued to ascend Hambury Tout with extensive views eastwards along the rolling coast.

The summit rewarded us with picturesque views of Lulworth Cove below, where we desended to explore the village with its pretty cottages and stream flowing down to the beach. A most pleasant seafood lunch was consumed at the Boathouse Cafe on the beach before we returned via an inland valley path and through the woods.
