On a cool but bright and quite sunny morning, one dog and 23 walkers, including visitors from Bath and Exeter, set out from Winterborne Whitechurch towards Milton Abbas. Despite a bit of off-piste walking by those in front, we were soon re-united on the Jubilee Trail and made our way steadily to our lunch-time destination.
Quite a few participants opted for a picnic lunch; one, due to pressure of time, made his own way back to the start, the remainder going for refreshments in the local pub, where we were expected. A warm welcome, a convivial atmosphere and tasty food made for an enjoyable mid-walk break.
For the afternoon stint, we were joined by another walker, who had been unable to do the morning section, hence the 2 halves mentioned in the headline. We touched base about 3.30 pm and the walk seemed to have been enjoyed by all, especially as the day had remained bright till the end.
