One a beautiful summers day our group of 7 plus Jasper the dog explored the remote forest at the edge of Poole Harbour ably led by Laurence. We soon left the busy campsites behind to find secluded forest lanes and heather clad heathland, enjoying the dappled shade and fresh air following the recent rains.
A trek along the remote Poole Harbour Trail brought us to the Ower Peninsular where we followed the path to Ower Quay on the far side of Poole Harbour. Here we enjoyed our picnic on the beach (unfortunately flooded by a spring tide) with extensive views of the islands and distant town of Poole. Jasper was the only one brave enough to take a dip!
After some bramble picking on the return we ambled through more shady glades deserted except the occasional deer leaping across our path. Our lovely day was completed with a sumptuous tea in the grounds of Vue Plaisant House provided by Laurence with an extensive selection of his home grown fruit and vegetables.
