Dorset group 13 Sep 20: Broadmayne/Poxwell/Osmington/White Horse

Blessed with perfect weather, 14 walkers set off from Broadmayne through arable farmland towards the hamlet of Poxwell for a short break near its 17th century Manor, and the 14th century tythe barn. Then taking higher ground we made our way to the pretty village of Osmington and its many thatched cottages eventually arriving to enjoy our picnic lunch on a hill overlooking the sea with a view of Portland, Weymouth, the White Horse and 7 cruise ships at anchor in Weymouth Bay.

After passing back through Osmington, we climbed the steep hill displaying the huge chalk figure of King George the third on horseback, eventually arriving back in Broadmayne where Andrew our leader treated us to a cream tea in his splendid garden.
