On the hottest day of the year so far, 14 walkers went a little out of their comfort zone with an unusually long and hilly ramble in North Dorset. In the morning we enjoyed seeing the butterflies and dramatic views on Compton Down and Melbury Hill, before climbing the famous Gold Hill into Shaftsbury where we stopped for lunch. The return route was completely new to almost all of us, but much appreciated in spite of the searing heat.
