Dolebury Warren Walk – 22nd October.

There were eleven of us altogether. Let it be said at the start that we were lucky with the weather. Except for a short burst of rain as we came down from the hill it was dry, with even a few moments of sunshine.

We had good extensive views at the top by the hill fort, mysteriously grayed by threatening clouds, and found a spot in the lee of the hill fort ramparts for lunch that gave us shelter from the very fresh breezes. Later we came across a trail of strange white arrows on the ground – they gave my uncertain leadership a boost. Clearly they were providential!

At the conclusion of the walk six of us repaired to the Penscot Inn. The company was at its friendly, cheerful, best.

Thank you, John, for the photos.
