On a bright sunshiny and light cloudy day 11 members and 1 visitor set off east from the car park through Morton woods. When we reached Cowpound woods we descended down the hill to Athelhampton where we visited The Orthodox Christian Church of Saint Edward. We were very lucky as the vicar and his wife kindly gave us a tour of the church which was decorated with very beautiful paintings and artefacts.
After our visit we headed off towards the pretty hamlet of Affpuddle along the side of the river Piddle. On the way we stopped for our picnic beside the river to watch the wild life; later passing 3 horses in their winter coats. At Affpuddle we headed south up the hill back to the car park whereon 8 of us drove to the Frampton Arms for some well earned drink and food.
