Devon Group Walk 6th October 2019

Dartmoor and Devonport Leat Walk.

Setting out from Burrator Reservoir the Devon Group headed out to explore this part of Dartmoor. The route took us alongside the Devonport Leat, an engineering feat over 200 years old. Constructed in the 1790s and still flowing in an area rich in industrial archeology in beautiful surroundings.

One of the most interesting features was the sight of the aquaduct carrying the leat OVER the river Meavy.

As well as the fascinating leat, the group was treated to some spectacular Dartmoor views on a mainly bright and sunny day with many Dartmoor ponies putting in an appearance along the route.

A great autumn day out in a fascinating corner of Devon.
