Seven members and a dog called Nancy were welcomed to the meeting point outside the church in Cornwood by an unexpected peel of church bells, what a welcoming village!
We enjoyed glorious autumn sunshine with barely a breeze of wind as we set off through the pretty village square heading towards the moor. The roads became narrower and as we ascended some fine views opened up. We turned onto a bridleway which led us up to the very edge of the moor and the lunch stop next to some pheasant covers. Rested and refreshed it was down hill all the way, pausing only to admire the ancient Wisdome bridge and nearby mill.
Afterwards we went to a local garden centre for tea and cake, the traditional way to end a walk for the Devon group.
