The combination of the wet forecast and the auspicious date did not produce a capacity crowd on the walk today – an all-time record low of 6! Despite the awful weather forecast we had a mostly dry walk. Stunning views were in short supply because the North Downs were shrouded in low cloud which made for some very interesting misty effects. As we descended the downs the cloud cover lifted slightly.
Gordon had a cunning short cut planned which enabled us to get back to the cars in time for tea and cakes before the heavens opened with a very heavy downpour.
Our thanks to our bakers:-
Robert – Cherry cake
James - Mince meat cake
Gordon – Lemon almond cake
