Circular walk from Houghton Regis on August 27th

This walk occurred on the Sunday of the Bank Holiday attended by 17 members, a walk of around 8 miles in length which was mainly flat that included several easy to climb inclines. Weather was changeable but overall there were good walking conditions with only a slight shower around lunch time . At the start of the walk on the ascent towards Wingfield we encountered a large group of detectorists armed with their metal machinery. A chat with a few of the treasure hunting enthusiasts gave us the opportunity to quiz them about their adventures and sighting and the hands on experience of some of their prized finds! The country paths were at times green and lush and ripe juicy blackberries a plenty as treat for some as we rambled our way back to the finish. Walk ended at 15:30 and given the hour we were unable to beverage and snack at Houghton Hall Café so it was to the local pub instead. A pub patronised by football loving Houghton Regis locals! Jolly were the GOC chaps who took part, my thanks to all who attended.
