Chipping Campden, 13th Nov 16.

Eighteen enthusiastic walkers set out from Chipping Campden on a
bright, sunny autumn day in November. A stroll through the fascinating
and ancient town centre was followed by a steep ascent up to Dover's
Hill. The effort was rewarded with some spectacular views across the
Vale of Evesham and beyond. Three miles of consistent downhill progress
through rolling open countryside, much of it owned by the National
Trust, was appreciated by those present. We had a pleasant spot near the
church at Mickleton  to have our packed lunches and some took advantage
of the 'King's Arms' to partake of an alcoholic beverage. In the
afternoon we passed some tree carvings that survive from the first World
War, created by Belgian troops stationed nearby. One of our number was
able to spot his childhood home on the skyline and was pleased to see
that it was still the white colour his parents had painted it. The
eight-and-a-half mile walk finished in good time to sample the delights
of 'The Bantam Tea Rooms' on the High Street.

Many thanks to Rory for a most enjoyable walk and for the above report.
