Carn Marth and Gwennap Pit

For members that joined us to walk here in Cornwall in August A wide area around Redruth was covered; the main places of interest being Carn Marth and Gwennap Pit.

A walk very well planned by Simon and Steve took the group through various highways and byways, together with marshy ground and quarries in different parts of the walk so it was certainly a walk that was very varied in places.

Gwennap Pit was where Wesley preached to the Masses and an Annual Pilgrimage Service is still held there today. It is an important place in the lives of Cornish Methodists and  was also the chosen place to stop for lunch!

It was onwards to Carn Marth where at the turn of ones head, walkers could see BOTH the English Channel and the Atlantic Ocean.
