Bernards Shell Island Weekend
was certainly a bit different this year.
Due to a carnival event on the Island, there was a last minute change of venue, so another site was found, and everyone informed via the GOC website.
The usual Saturday walk was replaced this year by a trip on the Talyllyn Railway . Twenty of the party 5 women and 15 men steamed up the line from Tywyn Wharf to Nant Gwernol and back through beautiful countryside.
The Saturday evening meal at a local Hotel Ty Mawr was excellent as usual and we had the restaurant room to ourselves all 22 of us.
Sunday there was a short walk from the camp site, along the beach to Tal-y-bont railway station and a train into Barmouth for a touristy day out.
Contrary to other years not a drop of rain for the whole weekend.
Well done Bernard for a great weekend, and good time had by all in caravan Motorhomes tents and B+Bs .
