Peter led 45 walkers and 8 dogs on a superb walk from Otford station. The weather was
kind to us and remained dry throughout the walk. Peter chose this area as we seldom walk
it and starting at Otford meant that walkers from London GOC could meet us at the train
station. The 1st 20 minutes or so got the hearts going as we climbed up Otford Mount. The
walk was a superb mixture of open heath, woodland walks and a golf course. There were a
few stiles to contend with and 2 proved to be a challenge for the dog owners especially
trying to get 2 gorgeous Alaskan Malamutes over. The views at lunch time were stunning
and we were treated to a plane taking off from the private airstrip at Romnet Street Farm.
A warm welcome to our new walkers, we have seen new walkers returning on many walks
recently and this proves what a friendly club GOC is.
We ended the walk in Surrey of tea and cakes, I believe the bakers and shoppers were:
Sue – Cheese and sundried tomato muffins
Alice – Marshmallow topped cake
Chris – Salted caramel brownies
Charles – large cherry muffins
Robert – Fruit pies
Robert – Coffee walnut cake
Rupert – Ginger frangipane
Keith - Chocolate cake, sorry no picture!
Jason – Salt Chocolate matzos
Gordon – Brownies
I would like to offer my thanks to the bakers and shoppers without you we would not have
the cake at the end. If I have missed any bakers or shoppers please accept my apologies, I
didn't see much of the cake 🙁 Some of our bakers use NT recipies and it would be great to
have additional bakers/shoppers as our group becomes more popular a link to the NT
recipe page is here http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/article-1356392942310/. There is also the opportunity for you to share your recipes on the Surrey forum http://www.goc.org.uk/forums/topic/989/surrey-group-recipes?p=1
Also thanks go to Gordon and Sue for taking the photos
Hopefully see you all next month
