Industrial heritage, North Wales style, meant we were in for a walk through a number of long abandoned quarrying villages on the way up to Moelwyn Mawr.  There was evidence of former farms, chapels and quarymen's bunk houses spread along the path, as well as several inclines which we were able to use to aid our ascent.  As we left the top of the quary works, an area of collapsed mines making for an oddly undulating landscape, we were hit by a bitter wind blowing up from the coast during our final ascent to the summit.

Reasonably clear skies, probably aided by the wind, ensured that on reaching the summit there were fantastic views both across to the other peaks in Snowdonia, and to the coast beneath us.  Heading down on the southern side proved steeper than the climb up, with one or two narrow sections to keep the group on their toes

A big thank you to Tecwyn for organising an excellent walk, and for the provision of drinks and scones afterwards.
