Hardy tree huggers out in force

31 Jan 2016 | East Kent Group

24 hardy souls braved morning rain in the hope that the forecast of brightening weather would come true - it did. The promise of a micro-pub at lunchtime may have helped!

Richard and David led the walk in celebration of their birthdays, using a route first led by Stuart just over a year ago. First stop was to see the remaining buildings of Snowdown colliery, then across fields which were not too muddy considering the rain. A stop for tea in a wood gave the rain a chance to stop and before we knew it we were in a pub which is a large garden shed with a wood burning stove.

On the return leg were some early snowdrops and the chance to hug a really ancient oak tree.
