On a cold crisp February day our group of 8 including a new member enjoyed the delights of Bere Regis and environs. Passing through watercress beds we ascended Black Hill through classic Dorset heathland for some amazing views from the Devil's Stone. Descending into the hamlet of Turner's Puddle we admired the snowdrops covering the old churchyard before following the Piddle stream to ascend Kite Hill. A stroll through the mature Piddle Wood allowed a descent through beech and oak nurseries into the unfortunately named but beautiful hamlet of Shitterton; before following the Bere Stream back to the Royal Oak pub for a hearty home cooked meal.
