Christmas Festivities, Chipping Norton, 11th Dec 2016
11 Dec 2016 | South Midlands Group
Christmas cheer was in the air as 23 shiny, happy people, and Max, gathered in the centre of Chipping Norton for a short 3 mile walk to build up an appetite for our eagerly awaited Christmas lunch. After fortifying ourselves with warm sausage rolls, and with the weather on our side, we set off through Chippy market place.
We were soon leaving the busy town traffic behind and were out into the peace and quiet of the local countryside. After a short coffee stop, and more sausage rolls, we found ourselves in the pretty village of Over Norton, before returning to Chippy in time for lunch.
Two more of our regular friends then joined us and 25 sat down for a 3 course Xmas lunch. Most of us enjoyed a traditional roast turkey dinner, with a couple opting for a vegetarian alternative. All agreed that it was excellant value for money and very attractively served! An excellent end to what has been a very enjoyable and successful year for the South Midlands group.
I was humbled by all of the thanks that I received from our members for making this success happen, and especially when Brian M. presented me with a Xmas present on behalf of the group. I have to say that without our enthusiastic walk leaders, and all the lovely people who turn up to walk every month, there would be no group. So a BIG BIG thankyou to you all and I look forward to seeing you all out again next year.
