AOG Sunday, Broadway to the Tower and back.

Another damp start to the day for Sunday's AOG walks, but all was looking promising by the time the group of 19 gathered in the carpark in Broadway to start the walk.

After a short walk through the edge of the village, admiring the pretty Cotswold stone houses, we started out across fields and a steady climb uphill until we reached the golf course, admiring the views on the way.  Not wishing to peak too soon and get to the top of the escarpment before lunch, after passing the golf course we headed back down an old Roman road, and then track, known as Buckle Street.  Arriving at the bottom of the woods at Weston Park, we again started the long climb back to the top of the hill, stopping for a coffee break on some conveniently placed logs on the way up.

At the top of the escarpment we all survived a short road stretch, the only way I could find to join up the 2 halves of the walk, clambered along a stretch of woodland on a very steep hillside and arrived at Fish Hill picnic site for our well earned lunch break. Continuing after lunch along the Cotswold Way, we soon arrived at the best view point along the Broadway escarpment and then soon after that at Broadway Tower itself.

After a few minutes to take in the views we started the steady downhill meander along farm tracks, and eventually across fields, before arriving back in the centre of the village.  13 of the group all manged to squeeze in to the smallest teashop in Broadway for well earned tea and cake before heading back to base.

Thank you all for your entertaining company.
