The South Midlands December walk, organised by John and Guy, started in the pretty village of Gotherington on a slightly grey but dry morning. The 5 mile walk passed some impressive dwellings and many muddy fields and gateways. Most, but not all, of the walkers remained upright and a quick recovery by the kilted walker saved much embarrassment when he slipped on a particularly muddy patch!
After the walk we returned to Gotherington and assembled at the Shutters Inn for a very hearty and tasty Christmas lunch. The food really was good and plentiful. A mix of wine, beer and soft drinks lubricated tongues resulting in lively and sometimes bawdy conversation. A smattering of Christmas cracker jokes caused much laughter and some groans, whilst one of the puzzles caused consternation for many.
A great day, enjoyed by all who attended. Thank you John and Guy.
