A Berry Enjoyable Walk!

Devon Group

Sunday 2nd May

Sixteen members gathered beside the river in Totnes at the start of a our walk to the 15th century Berry Pomeroy castle.

After leaving the town behind we soon found ourselves walking the green lanes and footpaths of South Devon with livestock in the fields and spring flowers in the hedgerows. We passed several other organised walking groups who also seemed to be enjoying being out on a lovely Spring day.

The castle ruins glimpsed through the trees on the hill above us was a spectacular sight. The few clouds and drops of rain as we walked did not dampen spirits and after a spell of woodland walking we reached our lunch stop at Berry Pomeroy castle itself just as the sun began to shine.

After our lunch stop we retraced our undulating route back to Totnes. The clouds rolled in but luckily we reached the walks end beside the river without further rain.
