This event was a circular walk of 9.1 miles (14.6 km) from Therfield SW to Roe Green, then NE to Sandon, Kelshall and Therfield.

With the original planned walk cancelled at short notice, Julian volunteered to repeat one of his favourite walks, in the very quiet area around Therfield village southwest of Royston. The first 5.5 miles of the walk is all plush, "tucked-in" countryside with very little road, taking in part of the Icknield Way Trail (2.5 miles of enclosed path), the Blagrove Common water meadow, and Friars Wood, which is where we stopped for our packed lunch. The return part of the walk took in villages one could describe as "posh", with horse paddocks and other fields in between. It was mostly pleasant, sunny spring weather, but with the occasional breeze in exposed areas when the sun was clouded over.

We thank Julian very much for offering a walk at short notice.

The event was planned in line with GOC’s covid-secure policy. This walk required no particular mitigations.
