Back in April, we advised everyone that unless the board received an application to become the new editor of Outdoors by Saturday 10th June, the board would have to begin the process of winding the magazine down. I regret to tell you that this deadline has now passed and no application has been received. The process to wind down the magazine will therefore begin.
What this means in practice is that in August Tim will take me through the process of putting together the September issue. I will then take responsibility for editing the magazine in its current format up to and including the February 2018 edition, after which it will be replaced by a much simpler listings magazine. As I am sure you appreciate, given my various other commitments, I would not be able to edit the magazine in its current format on a long-term basis.
However, this winding-down process is not irreversible! If someone were to step forward in the next few months to take over as editor, we would be able to keep it going. And so, if you want Outdoors to continue, please give the matter some serious consideration. If you are interested, please contact Richard at [email protected] . If you would like more information about what the job entails, you may contact Tim at [email protected] .
