I just wanted to let you all know that the group is making some changes to its programme of events this year which may be of interest to you. Many thanks to everyone who has volunteered to lead walks this year, the details of the majority of these are now on the website.
So, what’s new for ’22?
We are planning to hold quarterly social events in March, June, and September with our usual popular Christmas carvery lunch continuing in December. In March, we will hold our first pub social in the West Kent area, which, if successful, will be repeated in September. In June, we are organising a day trip to the coast. Although the format of the day is still being planned, it is likely that, amongst the sight-seeing, liquid refreshments will feature heavily during the day!
In May, Peter Blackburn will be holding our first mid-week walk, this will be at a slower pace than the usual monthly walks and will also have the option of a ‘morning only’ session for those wishing to walk a shorter distance. Again, if successful and, providing walk leaders come forward to lead future mid-week walks, these will be repeated.
As with all changes, some will prove more successful than others but if you are interested in attending any of the above, could I please ask you to book yourself on to the event(s) in the normal way so I can gauge the level of interest and determine whether it is feasible to repeat these.
If you have further suggestions or ideas for future West Kent events, or you would like to lead a walk for 2023, you don’t need to wait for the planning meeting in August, please speak to me on one of this year’s walk or contact me via the group email: [email protected]
I look forward to seeing you on some of our events this year, in what will, hopefully, be another successful year for the group. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
All the very best,
West Kent GOC group co-ordinator.
