It was inevitable that, one day very soon, a GOC Chairman would sidle up to me at some event and ask the dreaded question :– “Are you up for it?”. So it was that I decided to face my fear head-on and offer, unprompted, to host the 2018 GOC Annual Outdoor Gathering. So began the AOG to be held in …….. Stoke on Trent! AOG 2018

3 Nov 2017 | Annual Outdoor Gathering Group | Club News

As announced at the AGM, next year’s AOG will take place on the weekend beginning Friday 27th July 2018, and will be based at the Telford campus of the University of Wolverhampton. Full details will be posted on the website by mid-January, in preparation for bookings to open, as usual, on 1st February.

AOG at Lancaster University 4th- 6th August 2017

Hi everybody! As you probably know already, this year’s Annual Outdoor Gathering will be held at Lancaster University on the weekend beginning Friday 4th August. The university, which was also the venue for the AOG in 2007, occupies a picturesque parkland campus some three miles south of the town. This is a superb location, with the River Lune and the Lancashire coast to the west and the Forest of Bowland, an area of outstanding natural beauty, to the east.

Kevin Nuttall, who organised the AOG in 2007, has put together a fantastic programme of outdoor activities, including walks, cycle rides, caving and rock climbing....

ANNUAL OUTDOOR GATHERING; 4–6 AUGUST 2017, LANCASTER UNIVERSITY

Dear Members,

Next year’s Annual Outdoor Gathering will take place over the weekend beginning Friday 4 August at Lancaster University, not at Dalesbridge Activity Centre as previously announced. Dalesbridge informed us two weeks ago that for commercial and logistical reasons they were unable to accept our booking.

We have therefore spent the past two weeks looking for a suitable alternative. After considering various options, such as hiring a youth hostel on a sole use basis, we have decided to move the venue 25 miles up the road to Lancaster University....
