Spring is in the air:
It's such a lovely time of the year, having seen snowdrops, crocus and daffodils appearing as we welcome the spring. With the winter months behind us and the weather improving, it's now time to get out and about and start walking again.
Health & Safety Policy:
May I suggest that all Group Co-ordinators/Walks Leaders take this opportunity to look at the club's Health & Safety Policy which has been recently revised by Alex Barr (Secretary) and approved by the board. It covers many aspects of our activities. In particular, it sets out how to conduct and lead a walk so that everyone who turns up feels welcome, safe and have an enjoyable experience.
AOG - 2024 - Northampton:
Looking ahead to the summer months, there are exciting times ahead as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary. A special exhibition area will be made available at the club's Annual Outdoor Gathering, when we all meet in Northampton, to enable members to look back with affection on past years with the club. Members will be encouraged to bring their artefacts, photos plus old newsletters/magazines and recall events which hold fond memories.
David Stockwell - John O'Groats to Land's End:
On Tuesday 19th March David begins his epic walk covering 1,280 miles and taking him 4 months to complete. Details of his amazing walk can be found on our website (JOGLE) - John O'Groats to Land's End. I know that many Groups and members are planning to meet up with him on his journey through the country. I'm sure all our members wish him the very best. Good luck and “Well done, David!”
Strategic Planning:
Finally, can I encourage club members to look at the draft strategic plan which can be found as a 'news post' on our website, and to submit their views and comments. It is important for the committee, who give their time and energy to running the club, to know what you feel we should be doing to continue being successful. You can send your comments either to me or to Martin Gilbraith. We would be delighted to hear from you!
