Making light of a chill wind and the occasional flurry of snow, fifteen stoic walkers set out on an eight mile journey through two of the most picturesque Cotswold villages and surrounding countryside.
Although still only February, the first signs of Spring were clearly visible with snowdrops and emerging daffodils and it wasn't long before we were enjoying the charm of Upper and Lower Slaughter, with Ian, our walk leader, mentioning some of the historic points of interest along the way.
This was the most sociable of walks, with everyone enjoying lunch together at the village cricket pavilion. We then adjourned to nearby Stow on the Wold for the all-important tea and cakes, before setting off for home. We may have lacked the sunshine, but the stunning scenery and good company more than compensated.
