The Trustees met in London on the 7th April to discuss the future of the website, finances and incentives.
Top of the agenda was what to do about the website. The Trustees all agreed that the Gay Outdoor Club needed to invest in a new website that is easier to update, maintain and is fully compatible with hand held devices. We then reviewed the three proposals received in response to our request for proposals (RFP) issued in Feb 2018. RFPs were sent to 20 developers and our thanks go to Kingfisher Web Design (run by Owen Morris, a Gay Outdoor Club Trustee, therefore Owen did not take part in assessing the proposals), Paul Foster and Two Guys Creative for the time they spent putting together interesting and well thought out proposals. The Trustees unanimously agreed to award the contract to Kingfisher Web Design for being closely aligned to our ideas on development platform, having a proven track record (examples of their work are www.whycounsellingbusselton.com and pedddle.com) and being the most competitively priced.
The website redesign project has already started and we are looking for volunteers to help with module testing and end user acceptance testing. If you would like to be part of the team testing the new website functionality please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Finances are very sound and there are enough funds for the projects we have planned for this year. The big ticket items for 2018 are insurance, website development, marketing and flags/banners. Julian is looking into purchasing flags and banners for each group to display at events such as Pride and to highlight event meeting points.
Incentives such as an honours list or gifts for recruiting new members were discussed however we were not able to come to a decision. If anyone has experience with this and would like to share their ideas or be involved please get in touch.
