A huge thank you to Mike for leading us on a beautiful walk through the Tamar Valley. 30 people and 12 dogs from Cornwall and Devon came out to sing happy birthday to Mike - 28 years old so he told me ;-) Four women were in the group and there were 4 new members to welcome, 2 of whome had recently moved from London to enjoy a quieter life.

The walk started at Cotehele Quay and took us to Metherell, through the Danescombe valley to Calstock, short loop then return to Cotehele Quay along riverside paths. Lunch stop was at Calstock where we were treated to birthday cake.

The sun shone, flowers were out, birds sang, bees hummed. Spring is in full swing.

The event was topped off with jelly and icecream from the National Trust shop before heading home for Sunday tea.
