Hemyock an alternative to AOG Lancaster

6 Aug 2017 | Cornwall, Devon, Somerset Groups

As an alternative to the AOG in Lancaster the Devon group held a 7 mile circular walk starting in Hemyock. Eleven walkers and two dogs met at the War Mamorial for a promptish start and onwards to Culmstock. The walk was led by Steve and Mark, Steve having lived in the area a number of years ago, was able to give a history of Hemyock and Culmstock and recant a few old memories. The weather was perfect for walking, not too warm or sunny. There was lane, field and track walking and a varied number and types of style to cross. Lunch stop was at the church in Culmstock before a quick viewing of the interior and the Yew Tree that is growing out of the tower. The walk was completed with more lane, field and tracks before decending quickly back into Hemyock and the option to try the Catherine Wheel Pub for drinks.
