Kate, Pops and Mary lead the 40 strong group on a lovely walk today.  Unbelievably they had managed to find a walk which the Surrey group had not walked before.

It was our pleasure to welcome  members from London, Sussex and Hertfordshire.

The weather was not that promising with strong winds cooling us in the car park as we assembled, but we all warmed up after a few minutes walking.  The rains of the previous weeks ensured that we all got our boots quite muddy, but we still kept up a good pace and it didn’t seem to deter anyone. We had one shower of rain before lunch but it didn’t last long.

Ted (one of the doggies) managed to get lost just before the lunch stop, but some speedy backtracking by Judy, Alice and Pops retrieved the wandering cur to much relief all round. I think he will be spending some time in the naughty corner when he gets home.

At the end of the walk a large collection of cakes were laid out on the table, and then the rain started with squally gusts of wind.  Despite the use of umbrellas it wasn’t quite the relaxed tea and cakes we had anticipated. Our thanks to our generous cake bakers and marketeers.

In summary it shows you how enjoyable a well planned walk can be in good company despite the vagaries of the weather,

Gordon.
