The walk began with the sun shining, and we set off at a gentle pace for a stroll through the Dorset countryside. Our first stop was the little village of Lillington, which has an impressive (now converted) barn adjoining the church. Inside the church we noted several memorials of men lost in 1st World War, and there were extensive repairs under way to the windows. We continued to Longburton passing through the middle of a field of sweetcorn, and then an orchard to arrive for our lunch stop, when we all enjoyed our picnic on the perimeter of the church yard in warm summer sun. On our return we walked along a green lane in dappled sunlight negotiating the occasional muddy patch! We were able to have tea in the garden, again with the sun shining. A new walker joined us, who we hope to see on future walks. There were 10 of us altogether, and everyone enjoyed our time together.
