Dorset group: 19 Jul 18

On a beautiful summers day our happy band of 9 (including a visitor from Surrey) strolled round the saxon ramparts of Wareham to reach the tiny church of St Martin within-the-walls where we were treated to an informative guided tour. A further stretch led us into shady woods along the banks of the Piddle River and onto the marshes at the edge of Poole Harbour. Passing high reeds and glorious bull rushes we reached the Frome estruary to follow the Wareham channel through refreshing pine woods back to Wareham Quay. We rounded off the afternoon with a healthy BBQ back at our leaders house in Herston.
