South London turned on its best for 49 GOCs, including 6 newbies, and a sweet collie, as we explored 8 miles of the 12 mile course of the hidden gem that is the Wandle River, in South London.  The previous days were miserable and gloomy, interspersed with heavy rain, so we were all pleased as punch to have several hours of brilliant Winter sunshine to escort us on our way.  Steve Forde was at the helm, we passed many parks, and woodlands, the remains of waterwheels - relics from the time this river housed 68 of then supporting the various industries here in days gone by.  As is the way on our walks there was lots of good chat and this continued for a late lunch for 20 of us at the Wetherspoons pub in Wimbledon.  Thanks for a good day Steve, and to our visiting Chairman, David White, for the sunshine.....I am sure he put in a good word somewhere!

The pictures tell all:
