As already announced, this year’s Annual Outdoor Gathering is to be held in Shropshire, from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th July, and will be based at the Telford campus of the University of Wolverhampton, which is within easy reach of a whole variety of quite splendid walking and cycling country. Robert Poniatowski and his team from our Western Midlands group have been beavering away to devise a programme of walks, and I am delighted to announce that once again we will be able to offer a wide range of walks from the easy to the challenging.
We have also been fortunate in recruiting John Asquith and John Heathcote, two highly experienced cycling leaders, which will enable us to offer a cycle ride on both Saturday and Sunday. In addition, several places of interest are only a short distance away. These include world heritage site Ironbridge Gorge, Enginuity and Blists Hill Victorian Town, both of which are in Telford, Attingham Park, one of the National Trust’s top five attractions nationwide, the Roman villa at Wroxeter, the RAF museum at Cosford and the Iron Age fort on the Wrekin. Adding in our usual programme of social activities, there really will be something for everyone.
In line with our usual practice, bookings will open on 1st February. In the meantime you can already see provisional details of the event on: https://www.goc.org.uk/events/aog2018
Recent AOGs have been highly enjoyable events because you, the members, have supported them in large numbers. This is a tradition that we hope to continue, so please make your bookings as soon as you can and help us to make AOG 2018 another memorable event.
