Hi everybody! As you probably know already, this year’s Annual Outdoor Gathering will be held at Lancaster University on the weekend beginning Friday 4th August. The university, which was also the venue for the AOG in 2007, occupies a picturesque parkland campus some three miles south of the town. This is a superb location, with the River Lune and the Lancashire coast to the west and the Forest of Bowland, an area of outstanding natural beauty, to the east.
Kevin Nuttall, who organised the AOG in 2007, has put together a fantastic programme of outdoor activities, including walks, cycle rides, caving and rock climbing. These will take place in both the areas mentioned, as well as the Yorkshire Dales, which is only about 45 minutes’ drive from the university. For those looking for something a bit easier, we are running a coach trip to Sizergh Castle, near Kendal, so there really will be something for everybody! More details can be found on the website: http://www.goc.org.uk/groups/events/aog.
As usual, bookings for the main event will open on 1st February. We would encourage you to book online if you can. Just go to http://www.goc.org.uk/events/aog2017 and look for the link in the Bookings section. In the Members-only information section on that page there is also a link to the booking notes, and for those who are unable to book online, a booking form that can be completed and returned by email or post.
Our last two AOGs proved to be tremendously popular and we are sure it will be the same this year, making Lancaster 2017 another memorable event. So please make your booking as soon as you can. We look forward to seeing you there!
