Booking for outdoor activities opens on 1st June (NB booking ends on 12th July )
We have a great choice of walks, varying from easy to difficult, over the weekend, plus an hours introduction to the immediate area around the University on Friday (from 5pm) and a choice of two walks on the Monday for people staying longer, and one at the National Botanic Gardens of Wales on the Tuesday.
Most of the evening meals and entertainment will have a Welsh flavour to them.
On Saturday we have a cycle ride plus a choice of eight walks ranging from 5 to 10 miles (with an option to extend one of them to 14 miles, walking from Gower back to Campus)
NB One of the walks starts at 1pm giving you time in the morning to explore the local area for yourselves.
There are Santander bikes available for hire at The University. Why not cycle on the seafront.
Mumbles is less than 3 miles away and it's all on the flat.
On Sunday we have a cycle ride, a coach trip to St Fagan's (National Museum of History) near Cardiff and a choice of six walks ranging from 4 to 9.5 miles.
One of these, is a very interesting walk and talk, about the history of a local Ironworks, and one of the walks at the very beautiful Rhossili can be extended to 12 miles.
You can click on the Annual Outdoor Gathering info/photo on the Welcome to the Gay Outdoor Club homepage, where you will find all the information you will need about the weekend including a link to all the walks. Alternatively click on “Groups” and “Annual Outdoor Gathering.”
Please read through the information carefully to acquaint yourselves with what's going on and where.
Each walk clearly shows the length in the walk title, to make it easy for you to choose the appropriate walk for you.
There is also a link to other places of interest in and around Swansea for people who are extending their stay.
Please note booking for walks will be from 1st June to 12th July only.
All walks must be booked within these dates and I highly recommend that you do this asap to avoid disappointment. There will be no provision for booking walks on the actual weekend.
This will mean we can deal with any queries that may arise beforehand, and get all the boring bits out of the way, ensuring we all fully enjoy the weekend.
If anyone who needs a lift to the start of the walk could try and arrange it themselves, by asking someone they know who is also signed up to attend that walk, that would be a great help.
Otherwise please put a note on the bottom of the walk page, requesting a lift.
If you can offer a lift, please also complete the box at the bottom, and say how many spaces you have in your car.
Many thanks for your cooperation in helping these arrangements go smoothly.
Any queries on the walks please contact the walk leader or myself.
I look forward to welcoming you to Swansea for what will be a wonderful weekend of walking and socialising.
