A Christmas Ramble

A major push for the Trustees in 2017 has been to engage a marketing firm to help promote the Gay Outdoor Club. We received several promising proposals but found we were not able to proceed without a substantial investment in the current website. We had already planned to upgrade the website so bringing forward the redesign to help with marketing the Gay Outdoor Club was not a difficult decision for the Trustees. We hope to have the new website ready by May 2018 and if you know any web developers who might be interested in this project, let me know.

We end the year with around 1490 members having enjoyed 555 events which included the fabulous AOG at Lancaster University, cycling/walking in Mallorca and the Autnm Gathering.

At the AGM the members decided to keep the name Gay Outdoor Club which is now actively being promoted with the new logo in the Gay Outdoor Club Shop. We also agreed to increase the subscriptions which means there are enough funds to develop the website and effectively market the club.

The highlight for me last year was the Gay Outdoor Club canoe trip down the River Barrow and I am sure you can all cast your minds back to an outstanding trip organised by the Gay Outdoor Club. There are already 200 events planned for 2018 and, with your help, more added every day, so there is plenty to look forward to.

Take a look at the Gay Outdoor Club Christmas card here. Following and sharing the FaceBook page is some of the best advertising the club can get so please take a minute to spread the word.

On behalf of the members, I would like to say a huge THANK YOU, to the Trustees, Group Coordinators, Event Leaders and members who freely give their time for the benefit of the club.

Merry Christmas,

Richard

Chairman, Gay Outdoor Club
