Event Reports from Women Group

15 Aug 2018 | West Wales, Women Groups

The weather forecast for the day of this walk showed rain passing over and then a dry but cloudy day. We had some rain travelling to the start of the walk and also dry bits too but when we got to the car park for the meeting place, the rain hammered down.

A lot of us sat in our cars peeping out now and again to see if anyone had surfaced.

At the allotted start time we assembled in the car park quickly making for a wooden shelter to keep dry.

It was still raining so hard that a few people decided they did not want to get wet and so turned around and drove home, something that I can't remember ever happening before....

Women only walk at Ironbridge for The AOG

7 Aug 2018 | Annual Outdoor Gathering, Women Groups

For some years I have been trying to get more women involved in this yearly event but with little response so as the women only weekends in April each year are so popular we decided we would hold a women only walk on one of the days of the AOG as a bit of a trial to see if more women would attend.

The result was the largest numbers ever, with 16 women due to attend the whole event.

As happens, unfortunately nearer the time 3 had to pull out, but it was great to see the others join in and obviously enjoy the weekend....

Llyn Llech Owain near Cross Hands

6 Aug 2018 | West Wales, Women Groups

As it happened, included in the 11 people who came, we had 3 people join us who were new to this group. They were all given a warm welcome and they all seemed to enjoy and I hope they join us again soon.

This Country Park is made up of some very lovely green paths plus some harder surfaces and almost all on the flat so ideal for everyone....

16 Jul 2018 | West Wales, Women Groups

Two years ago Colin and John arranged a short walk in their village followed by a social in their village hall which was a huge success.

They promised a repeat 2 years later and true to their word put in a lot of hard work again to ensure a repeat performance.

This time the walk was a longer one of over 6 miles. 11 people assembled for the walk on a scorchingly hot, humid and airless day. We set off along the local country lanes and onto a lovely green path.

The views were magnificent, particularly of the surrounding hills and mountains....
