Event Reports from Women Group

South Gower Coast

6 Jan 2019 | West Wales, Women Groups

This was our first walk of 2019 and the first "practice" walk for the AOG in July, and what a cracker it turned out to be.

Some people were still on New Year holidays and this walk on Gower was probably a bit too far to travel at this time of year for our further flung friends in Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire so a happy band of 7 assembled for this beautiful walk on the Gower coast.

From Blackpill we drove to Caswell the end point of this walk to drop off a car and then onto Penmaen for the start....

Christmas Lunch in Laugharne Carmarthenshire

15 Dec 2018 | West Wales, Women Groups

For the 4th year we decided on Laugharne for our Christmas Lunch. The owners and staff at The Owl and the Pussycat give us exclusive use and we always have a warm welcome, delicious turkey dinner--veggie and vegan options available--and scrummy desserts.

The route he had chosen starting in Gowerton was lovely and even locals found themselves in some areas they hadn't walked around before.

After one aborted attempt, Russ had reccied this walk all by himself, a major achievement and one that was going to turn into a treat for all of us....

Truro Day and Idless Woods

9 Sep 2018 | Cornwall, Devon, Women Groups

Today was a great one here in Cornwall as the group managed to combine a walk with a look around a local event taking place in Truro. Truro meant altering our starting point for the walk but it was well worth it. Martin lead the group, consisting of Richard, Terry, Debbie, Adam, Matt, Steve, Neville and myself in and around Idless woods climbing up the famous locally known 'Forty' steps which actually consists of more than seventy. From here we entered Kenwyn Churchyard where Martin pointed out various different Commonwealth Graves from different eras....
